Staffordshire Rugby Round up 10th March
In an all Staffordshire clash Burton hosted Lichfield the hosts working their way to an emphatic 35-14 victory.
Midlands 1 West.
In a bottom of the table clash Longton hosted Malvern with a return to form heralding a welcome 43-5 victory for the hosts. Stoke travelled to top of the league Bromsgrove but a long afternoon of rugby ended in a 52-17 loss for the Staffordshire side.
Midlands 2 West (North).
Leek welcomed Spartans, with the hosts fighting their way to a solid 30-13 win. Newcastle travelled to top of the league Ludlow but came home empty handed after a 35-10 loss. Stafford were away at Crewe & Nantwich with the home side grabbing the win with a final score of 31-17. Tamworth were on the road to Camp Hill with a close game ending in a narrow 27-23 loss for the visitors. Walsall game against Telford Hornets was postponed. Wolverhampton hosted Veseyans, the home side easing their way to a 24-5 victory.
Midlands 3 West (North).
Burntwood welcomed Old Saltelians, a 40-14 win enough to lift the Staffordshire side to 2nd place in the league. Cannock hosted Harborne but couldn’t find any form with a 0-60 loss. Eccleshall were at home to Edwardians with the visitors claiming the points after a final score of 17-25. Handsworth travelled to Cleobury Mortimer but the hosts kept all the points with a 44-0 win. Trentham were away at Wednesbury the visitors comprehensively losing out 73-5. Uttoxeter hosted top of the table Shrewsbury with a close afternoon of rugby ending in a 5-15 loss.
Midlands 4 West (North).
Barton welcomed Essington the hosts taking all the points 38-19. Bloxwich hosted Clee Hill but the visitors took the points with a 5-23 victory. Linley travelled to Aston Old Edwardians with a magnificent 0-81 win lifting the Staffordshire side to the top of the league. Rugeley were away at Yardley & District a solid afternoon of rugby ending in a 14-25 win. There were no league games for Willenhall this week.
Midlands reserve league 1: No game for Burton this week who remain in 4th spot in the League.
Midlands reserve league 2: Lichfield remain top of the League after a comprehensive 55-3 victory at home to Birmingham Moseley. Wolverhampton with no game but remain equal 2nd.
Midlands reserve league 3: Walsall travelled to Ludlow and came away with a 30-10 win moving them into 4th place in the league
Staffordshire League Division 1.
Stafford recorded a 43-5 home win against Wednesbury. Gnosall were unable to make their game against Tamworth 2nd XV, conceding the fixture. Whittington were unable to make their game against Stoke on Trent Development, conceding the fixture. There were no league games for St Leonards this week.
Staffordshire League Division 2.
Stone were unable to make their game against Handsworth 2nd XV, conceding the fixture. Burntwood remain top after a comprehensive victory against Longton. Uttoxeter keep up the pressure at the top after a good win at Rugeley.
