Dear Club Safeguarding Officer
As we view the welfare of children as paramount and that safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility, we highly recommend all those involved with the youth game attend one of our courses. Many of the comments we have received back from delegates on the safeguarding courses is how much of an eye-opener it is and how it helps them in their role. Indeed, they feel that the course helps them understand the safeguarding needs of children and also how to protect themselves as coaches. In addition to this, many of the delegates feel that all coaches working within mini and youth rugby should attend the Play It Safe course – something we in the Safeguarding Team fully endorse in our aim to embed safeguarding in rugby.
You can find out more about our courses by clicking on the following link: http://www.englandrugby.com/governance/safeguarding/safeguarding-course-search - Our Play It Safe course is designed for any volunteers/coaches at a club and the In Touch course is for those in the club safeguarding officer and committee roles.
If you are interested in running one of our courses at your Club and have the facilities to do so, please fill out a course booking form (attached) and send back to us. Please be aware that we require three possible dates/times when the course could be run and at least six weeks’ notice, to allow us to organise tutors to deliver the course. Alternatively, please access http://www.englandrugby.com/my-rugby/courses/search/#/search?id=&c=&eventid= to view courses available near you. As part of our Regulations, it is a requirement for all club safeguarding officers to attend one of our In Touch courses within six months of taking on the role.
We look forward to hearing from you and we wish you all the best for this season.
